Our Team: Advocacy Manager

Scott Menzies (He/Him)

Scott Menzies, the newest member of the Earth Ministry/WA IPL team, has been a grassroots community organizer for over 20 years. After returning from seven years’ residence in Asia in 2003, Scott was trained in the Midwest Academy methodology as part of his Environment & Community Master’s program. Since then, Scott has organized on a range of issues from Ranked-Choice Voting to Racial Justice. People-power is gold, and it is Scott’s goal to leverage that precious energy for change, sustainably and for the long-haul, by focusing on effective power-building. A practitioner of Buddhist meditation and Daoist martial arts, Scott has long subscribed to the Taijiquan principle Quán Dào Hé Yī (拳道合一): “The Fist and the Dao are United.” In this context, how does being a person of faith, conscience, and practice make one a better activist, and how does activism make one a better person of faith, conscience, and practice?

A “returning” skateboarder and rock-climber, Scott is also a musician. And he likes cats. A lot.
