Earth Ministry/Washington Interfaith Power & Light Multifaith Outreach Coordinator
Earth Ministry/Washington Interfaith Power & Light is seeking a part-time Multifaith Outreach Coordinator responsible for supporting our Greening Congregations and Colleague Connection programs. The position will cultivate new partnerships in Washington State with an emphasis on outreach to Jewish communities, and engage existing Earth Ministry/WAIPL congregations and Colleagues (congregational activists).
This is a 20 hours/week position with a flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends. The salary is $22-$24/hour with generous vacation/sick leave and cost-share health insurance available.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruit and engage new Colleagues and Green Teams with an emphasis in outreach to Jewish synagogues/communities
- Establish relationships with key Jewish community organizations to collaborate on environmental and climate justice issues based on Jewish values
- Support and strengthen relationships with existing Earth Ministry/WAIPL Colleagues, Greening Congregations, faith communities, individual supporters, and other partners
- Provide guidance and assistance to current and prospective Greening Congregation partners
- Make presentations including Adult Education classes, workshops, trainings, Green Team consultations, and other public speaking as appropriate
- Organize and facilitate semi-annual Colleague Gathering events
- Help plan and solicit Earth Ministry/WAIPL supporter involvement in program and fundraising events
- Leverage program outreach to increase number of supporters and grow financial base
- Conduct activities in alignment with Earth Ministry/WAIPL’s commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Develop messaging on environmental issues and positions from a multifaith perspective; help write and ensure effective distribution of materials to target audiences
- Contribute content for Earth Ministry/WAIPL’s newsletter, website, and social media
- Collaborate on producing email alerts and editing other materials and communications
- Work cooperatively within a small staff and take on other duties as necessary
Requirements: Minimum of 2 years of experience in outreach or organizing with a faith-based, environmental, or social justice non-profit organization. Strong interpersonal, writing, and public speaking skills are essential, as is the ability to juggle competing priorities. Experience working with Jewish communities or in a multifaith context is strongly desired. Candidates must be located within Washington State (or be willing to relocate at their own expense) and have a valid drivers license.
