First-in-Nation Ban on Nonstick “PFAS” Chemicals in Food Packaging Approved By Washington State Legislature

hamburger-801942-768x402The Healthy Food Packaging Act passed in the Washington State Legislature today. As people of faith, we believe we have a moral obligation to protect our bodies, our communities, and our soil and water from toxic chemicals that make us sick. We are so grateful for our representatives’ decision to pass this bill, which will keep our families healthy and safe.

Earth Ministry’s Program & Outreach Director is quoted in the official press release from Toxic Free Future on this exciting news. She says, “Faith leaders statewide thank legislators for upholding our shared value of protecting the most vulnerable by phasing out toxic PFAS chemicals in food packaging. This meaningful legislation addresses our moral obligation to protect families from toxic contamination in the products we use every day in our homes, houses of worship, and local businesses.”
