Dear Friends of Earth Ministry –
Over the past several months of discernment and decision-making, the current Earth Ministry Board has remained open to possibilities for new ideas, new growth and new opportunities. During this time, a small group of supporters approached us with the offer to tend the Earth Ministry non-profit status (EIN) for a season of rest, to allow for future discernment and the possibility of new life.
After careful consideration the current board accepted that offer and we have been moving toward closing up all loose ends for that team to take over in February 2026. Earth Ministry has ceased all operations and solicitation of funding for the foreseeable future. This new small team will take over tending the bare minimum to keep the non-profit status (EIN) active until such time as new life springs forth.
We deeply appreciate every word and gesture of support and care we have received over these past very difficult months. While we realize that it is no longer financially feasible for us to operate the organization in the same ways moving forward, the network of passionate earth advocates created over the decades of Earth Ministry’s work continues to inspire with their stories of Earth Ministry’s legacy. We are hopeful that your commitment and energy will continue to grow!
The transition into this rest period will be completed by January 31, 2026, when a new custodial board will begin to oversee the rest period. We are grateful to them for assuming these roles. If you have questions, please send them to: emoffice@earthministry.org
At some time in the future we hope to gather to celebrate the many decades of good work done in and through Earth Ministry; share our stories and express gratitude for the connections begun through this organization. We will keep you informed of the planning of such an event.
We know that the work of Earth Ministry lives on in each of you, and that there are many opportunities for you to engage in that work now. We do not know if, when, or how Earth Ministry might give birth to some new iteration, so we encourage you to engage in the work of ecological wellbeing and justice now with our past partner organizations, local efforts and initiatives, and in your own greening faith community.
In gratitude,
Andrea Mendoza, Board Chair
Kara Markell, Board Secretary
Robin Plotnik, Board Treasurer
Janet Farness, Board Member
