On May 18, Madison Mayhew from National Interfaith Power & Light spoke at a press conference in front of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in DC on behalf of Earth Ministry/WAIPL and our partners Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon/OIPL and the #StopGTNXpress coalition. We MUST stop the GTN Xpress fracked gas pipeline expansion here in the Pacific Northwest and prevent Sen. Manchin’s dirty permitting deal from gutting our nation’s bedrock environmental law and making it easier to approve polluting projects without community input. FERC must stop rubberstamping fossil fuel projects and take environmental justice seriously.
Madison starts speaking at 4:45. We are in faithful solidarity with the other frontline community speakers calling out for environmental justice from Appalachia, Freeport, TX, the Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribe of Texas, Lake Charles and St. James Parish, LA, including RISE ST. JAMES, who are fighting chemical plants, liquified natural gas terminals, and the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
