Earth Ministry/WAIPL is part of the Interfaith Power & Light network that is 40 states strong and growing.
Together with interfaith leaders across the nation, we strategically engage in federal advocacy for policies that protect God’s creation and our communities.
Green New Deal
The introduction of the Green New Deal resolution in the 116th Congress presents a profound moral opportunity. Collectively, we have the chance to respond to the ecological and economic crises facing our shared home with bold and hopeful action. As people of faith and conscience, we are called to care for this world and its people.
Carbon Pricing Principles
Any carbon pricing policy should function to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate climate threats. Revenue generated should be used to negate climate impacts to vulnerable populations such as helping low- and middle-income households offset increased energy costs, increase community resilience to climate impacts and
facilitate a just transition to renewable sources of energy.
Equitable and Sustainable COVID Relief
As people of faith, we ground our actions in values of protecting God’s creation and the most vulnerable among us. We urge members of Congress to craft COVID relief and stimulus packages that will protect frontline workers and communities instead of corporate executives, fight inequity instead of reinforcing it, and to chart a path to a healthier, more just economy instead of a return to the status quo.
Recommendations for a Faithful Environmental Agenda
It is the moral responsibility of our nation, and our sacred task as people of faith, to protect our ecosystems, work for environmental justice, and address climate change. People of faith and conscience view the climate crisis as one of the defining moral issues of our time.
