Our staff recently joined Earth Ministry/WAIPL community members and partners in Spokane to speak out faithfully for environmental justice and build connections. We held a Spokane Community GTN Xppress Teach-In with our partners at Wild Idaho Rising Tide and Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility and supported Catholic high school and college students from across the region at the Ignatian Advocacy Summit at Gonzaga University.
The following weekend our staff gathered with partners at the Hope for Creation Conference, hosted by the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Whitworth University’s Office of Church Engagement, and The Fig Tree, to celebrate Earth Day. This year’s theme, “Care for the Water,” shared a vision of hope for creation; spotlighted local caretakers of land, water and air; and renewed Spokane’s commitment to caring for the environment. We were to privileged to be part of the program, delighted to spend time learning more about Spokane’s active environmental community, and honored to be part of the closing Earth Day vigil.
