Shmita Project Northwest Congregational Partnership

The Shmita Project Northwest, a project of Congregation Beth Shalom and Earth Ministry/Washington Interfaith Power & Light, invites your congregation to become our partner in educating, inspiring, and building community around bringing Shmita to life in our region.

By becoming a partner of Shmita Project Northwest, your congregation will join a larger community working together to elevate Shmita values like rest, generosity, and liberation. Together we will ensure that Jewish communities across our area are aware of the special status of next year. We’re excited to work with you to think creatively about developing and sharing programming that brings Shmita to life!

Shmita Project Northwest will provide:

  • Learning opportunities and educational materials on a diverse range of topics
  • Community space for clergy and lay leaders to collaborate and create Shmita-inspired social change
  • Publicity for your organization’s Shmita-related events through our network
  • A central platform for the region’s Shmita activities

As a partner of the Shmita Project NW, we ask your community to:

  • Share your logo on the Shmita Project NW website
  • Publicize Shmita Project Northwest events in your community
  • Join us for a community-wide Shmita kickoff event on Sept 26, 2021
  • Participate in a Hakhel celebrating the completion of the Shmita year during Sukkot 5783 (2022)

If you think this would be a good fit for your community, please forward this email to the appropriate person at your synagogue. The application form is available here. Shoutout to our friends at Temple B’nai Torah and Temple Beth Hatfiloh who already signed on as partners!

Feel free to reach out if you have questions, and thank you for considering. We look forward to bringing Shmita to life with your community.

In peace,
Jessica Zimmerle (she/her)
Program & Outreach Director
