Religious leaders around the state are opposed to fossil fuel terminals that are built on unstable land in populated areas. Faith values of stewardship, justice, and intergenerational responsibility tell us that basing an economy on petrochemicals is not taking care of creation nor good for long-term prosperity.
The ongoing threat of spills, the frustration of traffic tie-ups, the expense to local businesses, the terrible risk of derailments, leaks, and explosions, and the devastating impact on the global climate and regional water quality means that fossil fuel projects are not good stewardship of our communities, land, and water. We know we can do better.
That’s why, time and time again, people of faith have turned out and spoken up to halt fossil fuel megaprojects across the Northwest. Collectively, our broad coalitions have stopped over 50 fossil fuel projects across the region from going online! Earth Ministry/WAIPL will continue to help hold the “Thin Green Line” of communities saying no to dirty and dangerous fossil fuels.
