On The Road

The Union of Concerned Scientists recently identified transportation as the most significant, consumer-related environmental problem.  Of great importance is the tremendous contribution that cars and light trucks make to global warming (almost 30 percent of all greenhouse gasses).  Therefore, making sustainable transportation choices needs to be a top priority.

Simple Things You Can Do

  • Use more efficient, less polluting vehicles

  • Commute by bus, bike, carpool, or walking

  • Check tire pressure every month

  • Turn off you engine when stopped for more than 30 seconds

  • Think about your trip and use the most efficient vehicle possible for the job

  • Go car-free one day a week...or more.
