Most people recognize that caring for the Earth is of vital importance for our survival. Pope Benedict XVI has spoken about the environmental crisis with increasing urgency: “if you want peace, protect creation.” (World Day of Peace Message, 2010). Justice, peace and the integrity of creation are at the core of our Catholic faith.
The workshop will examine the shift that is taking place in our understanding of the world, the opportunities it presents to the human community, and the implications it has for people of faith.
Workshop attendees will:
- Become more aware of the ecological crisis facing the human family
- Learn about the extraordinary shift taking place regarding our understanding of God’s creation and our place within it
- Understand the religious values and vision we need for the healing of our world
- Explore practical ways of making personal and corporate responses that can make a difference
