Greening Congregations Program

Greening Congregations
Greening Congregation Partners are honored at the 2008 Celebration of St. Francis.

A Flexible Strategy

The Greening Congregations Program offers a partnership with Earth Ministry and a flexible strategy for engaging congregation members in creation-care efforts.  The program is intended to support congregations as they envision and celebrate the “greening” of a variety of congregational dimensions.

Who Can Be Involved

Earth Ministry invites any member congregation to engage in this program.  For congregations outside of the Northwest, we are unable to provide in-person staff support, but are available by phone and email.  For all Greening Congregations, we are delighted to post your accomplishments on our web site.

Benefits of Partnership

Greening Cong BannerUpon completing the Greening Congregations process, you will be honored with an Earth Ministry banner to be displayed in your church.  Earth Ministry will also write and post a profile of your congregation’s greening efforts on our website.  There are many other intangible benefits to becoming a greening congregation. We encourage you to find out what they are!

The work and mission of Earth Ministry depends on financial support from individuals, congregations and, in small part, foundations.  That is why we ask all Greening Congregations to become Congregational Members as part of our partnership. By becoming a Congregational Member, you will receive the many benefits that come with financially supporting Earth Ministry.

Getting Started

Earth Ministry works with Colleagues or members within a congregation to help foster an awareness of the value of God’s creation, and develop acts of care that reflect this awareness.  The Greening Congregations Process outlines a step-by-step process to get started on the path to implementing more sustainable practices in your house of worship.
