Earth Ministry hosts a variety of events for individuals, congregations, and faith communities. Below you will find more detailed descriptions of the different types of events we host throughout the year.
Workshops & Trainings
Earth Ministry is often invited by churches and other organizations to provide
workshops on topics including: Faith & Environment 101 (why
Christians care about creation), Advocacy for All Creation,
Greening Congregations, and Environmental Health.

Inspirational Speakers
Earth
Ministry is dedicated to providing events that both educate and inspire
people of faith to care for creation. Examples of such events include Faith, Energy, and
Environment - an Evening with Rep. Jay Inslee; Irreplaceable: A
Faithful Response to Wildlife in a Warming World, featuring Richard
Cizik and a panel of local speakers; and many of our past Celebration
of St. Francis events.

Advocacy Opportunities & Lobby Days
It is important for people of faith to influence decision
making in the State Capitol where ever you live. Every year, there are
opportunities to join Earth Ministry in making your voice heard in
Washington, including a Legislative Workshop, Environmental Lobby Day
and Faith Advocacy Day. Hear from legislators, learn how to lobby, and
meet face-to-face with your elected officials.

Colleague and Congregational Consultations
Colleague and Congregational Consultations are informal gatherings of Earth Ministry members working to
“green” the activities of their church. Colleagues are congregational activists
who are working to bring creation-care education and events to their church
bodies. From carpool Sundays and creation-oriented liturgy to lobbying in
Olympia and involving children in pea patches, Earth Ministry members and Colleagues will have an opportunity to
report on the creation care activities of their home congregations and hear what
is working in other churches. This is a great opportunity to share and
network with each other as well as Earth Ministry staff and board members.

Celebration of St. Francis
Every year, Earth Ministry holds an event on or around the Feast of
St. Francis to honor the life and work of the most
environmentally-friendly Christian saint. While the content changes
from year to year, the goal of this annual event is to wed sustainability, justice,
inspiration, community and artistic expression. Past Celebrations of St. Francis have
included talks by renowned authors, dance performances, a
creation-themed sermon contest, and gospel choral performances.

Field Trips
Many people have had some of their most meaningful
experiences with God while in outdoors in nature. Earth Ministry helps people connect with God in nature by providing outdoor
experiences such as reflective hikes and nature experiences.
|
Habitat Restoration Projects
Earth Ministry collaborates with organizations such as People
for Puget Sound, Friends of the Cedar River Watershed, and EarthCorps to engage in periodic habitat restoration events.
During these restoration events, we also offer times of prayer and
reflection.
