Come learn about how the world’s largest methanol refinery, proposed for Kalama, could bring gas pipelines through your back yard.
Perhaps you think of fracked, or “natural,” gas more as an extraction issue in the Midwest or East Coast. But did you know this dirty and dangerous fuel is encroaching on our Northwest home? A Chinese company is proposing to build the world’s largest methanol refinery on the Columbia River in Kalama, Washington.
This refinery would consume more gas than any sector of Washington’s economy, requiring gas pipeline expansions through South King County, and opening the floodgates for fracked gas usage and exports in our state. Fortunately, there is a lot we can do to stop this project! Come to this informational forum on September 14 in Redmond to learn more. Contact Cecile Gernez with questions and RSVP here.
